And tensions came to a head last month when the opposing faction attempted to enact their revenge, through the use of necromancy and a powerful sleep spell.

He protected the juniors, but while the boy had tolerated him, he'd clearly had an angry and jealous reaction when Lan Sizhui had discovered they were family. They weren't close, but Wen Ning cared for him for many reasons that didn't involve his guilt over his father's death.
