PERSONALITY:
Jin Zixuan is known for being arrogant, and vain. Wei Wuxian famously refers to him as a "peacock," more concerned with his own pride and appearance than in respecting the feelings of those around him. There is good reason for his vanity: He is considered the third most handsome young man in the cultivating world. However, he does show respect to the disciples of the Jin Sect, standing up to Wen Chao when he tried to use Mianmian as bait for the Tortoise of Slaughter. During the Sunshot Campaign, he assumed that one of his disciples had been making him soup every day, and insulted Jiang Yanli for trying to take credit away from her, not realizing that Yanli was actually the one making the soup.

At first, Jin Zixuan detested the idea of his arranged marriage to Jiang Yanli, outwardly stating that he didn't find her attractive and had no interest in marrying her. He was glad to have the betrothal called off, following his fight with Wei Wuxian at Cloud Recesses. However, over time, his feelings towards Yanli began to change, and he developed romantic feelings for her after all. He was too shy to put voice to them, though, instead using excuses like saying his mother invited her to come to the Wild Hunt, rather than admitting he wanted her to come himself. When he finally did admit to it, in front of a crowd of onlookers, no less, he became so overcome with embarrassment that he just stormed out.

In the novel, when the time came to finally confess his feelings, he hired writers to compose his confession, though in the end he didn't end up using any of it. In the show, he confesses his love by trying to make Yanli as comfortable as he can in Lanling, saying he will build her a Lotus Pier to remind her of her home. Yanli, who had harbored feelings for Zixuan the whole time, despite his initial rejection of her, finally agreed to marry him after all.

Zixuan, being the sole legitimate child of his father, Sect Leader Jin Guangshan, and therefore the heir to the Jin Sect, had a lot of pressure put on him to behave well and make a good impression. This is not shown in the show, but he often was forced to act as mediator between his father and his mother, who would fight constantly (probably because Jin Guangshan kept sleeping with other women). He never lets any of this drama show through to the public, however, and always carries himself with poise and confidence. He is protective of those who serve under him, and doesn't mind showing off in front of a crowd.

By the time he is being pulled from, Zixuan's arrogance has been tempered somewhat, largely thanks to Yanli's influence. Though he does not get along with Wei Wuxian, he knows that he is important to Yanli, and so makes concessions to allow her to visit him in exile. Yanli even invites Wei Wuxian to choose a courtesy name for their as of yet unborn child, which I imagine Zixuan would have had to agree to as well. But then, there is very little Zixuan wouldn't do for Yanli.

POWER:

1. Golden Core Cultivation

By cultivating the spiritual energy of his so-called Golden Core, Zixuan gains the following abilities:

1. Enhanced healing/vitality - He can heal about 4x faster than a mediocre human, and live 4x as long (assuming nothing kills him first).
   
2. Enhanced strength/speed/reflexes - He can use this, coupled with his martial arts training, to leap long distances through the air (think Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), dodge sword attacks, and lift grown men off the ground.
   
3. Spiritual cleansing - Cultivators use their abilities to put evil spirits and ghosts to rest.
   
4. Special sword techniques - Zixuan can use his sword to send out shockwaves of spiritual energy, and also to fly long distances through the air by standing on it like a surfboard.
   
5. Talismans - Trained cultivators can create talismans out of small pieces of paper with writing on them that create certain effects, such as starting a fire, calming a raging zombie, or warding away evil spirits.
   
6. Qiankun pouch - Basically a bag of holding. A small pouch which is able to fit larger items inside. Nothing living can go in the pouch.

2. Density manipulation

This power lies on a spectrum, with intangibility on one end, and super durability on the other. By manipulating his own personal density, Zixuan can go from being an immovable, unbreakable object, to being so light that he can phase through walls and float into the air. Think Vision, from Marvel comics. He will have to learn to control this power, and if he sustains either end of the spectrum too long, he will get nosebleeds and eventually pass out.

3. Never empty quiver

A quiver that always holds 5 arrows. No matter how many arrows you pull from it, it will replenish back to 5. Obviously, you cannot pull more than 5 at a time. The quiver takes 1 minute to replenish each arrow.

The next thing you'll notice is the smoke filled kitchen where the video is being filmed. The third thing you'll notice is a harried looking young man with long black hair and pristine pale yellow robes, holding the camera uncertainly, as though he doesn't fully trust it. ]

[ He glances back over his shoulder, where there is a microwave that is clearly on fire. ]

I only tried to prepare some soup. The small heating box must be possessed by an evil spirit. It's wailing pains my ears and I cannot get it to stop. I cannot tame it alone. Please respond with all haste.

[ And then he just... puts the comm down, face up on the kitchen table, so that it is left recording the ceiling for a minute or so before the feed shuts off. ]
